Service Description

On our ‘ceramics for all’ our course leaders Amy Hamill, Georgie Gibbons, Ruby Byrne (evenings), and Rose (mornings) will handle the development of your clay knowledge with their very capable hands. This course is ideal for you if you are looking for an extensive introduction to throwing and hand building or just to refresh rusty skills. Week 1 and 2: Basics of hand building and throwing on the wheel (Pinch, coiling, surface decoration, throwing a cylinder etc.) Week 2-4: Development of these skills to produce more variety of forms e.g. Mug (handles), bowls, plates There will be a fairly even split between wheel time and hand build up to this point. Week 5-8: Allows more freedom to specialise in throwing or hand building and includes guided practice to really develop and apply the techniques that you have learned as much as the facilities can support this. Week 9-10: Preparation and application of glazes and slips onto your creations so you can walk away with the skills to create ceramics from clay to finished item or take your journey further by becoming a studio member! We recommend that the minimum age is 14 when accompanied by an adult on the course and 16 without adult supervision. Monday evenings, January 13th - March 17th, 630-9pm Thursday mornings, January 16th - March 20th 1030am-1pm Monday evenings, April 7th - June 9th
