Dave Short - Low-relief carved tiles

Service Description

The session begins with a demo by Pottery Throw Down finalist Dave Short – he will take you through the basic making process – then it will be over to you! You will then carve leather-hard terracotta tiles with a low-relief layered design of your choosing. Add surface textures and detail. Your 3D designs are enhanced using coloured decorating slip and additional features can be incorporated using sgraffito. Tiles are great for telling stories, celebrating your interests or reflecting the beauty of the natural world. Dave will be on hand to offer support and guidance throughout and will encourage you to be daring with your designs and your decorative approach. Your terracotta tiles will then be ready to be dried, bisque fired and glazed. Jeopardy is part of the pottery process, but barring mishaps, your tiles will be bold and decorative additions to your home! DATE AND TIME: Sunday June 8th 10-1230pm Maximum participants: 12 Suitable for beginners and those with some pottery experience. Price includes three pieces of work fired.
