Available spots
Service Description
Make pottery inspired by the work of prehistoric potters – Palaeolithic figures, grave ornaments, Neolithic pinch pots etc. The session begins with a group activity in which you will make a number of practice pieces. During this you will refer to pictures of archaeological items and reproduction pieces, learning from the early potters. The session continues with a demonstration of pinch pot techniques by Pottery Throw Down finalist Dave Short. After that it is over to you. Pieces that you produce can be fired in an electric kiln, but those of you with an adventurous streak will want to dry them thoroughly then attempt a firing in a bonfire – it is very tricky, but highly rewarding! DATE AND TIME: Saturday June 7th 4-6pm Maximum participants: 12 Suitable for beginners and those with some pottery experience. Price includes two pieces of work fired.
